J-SIL — Laboratory Glassware Photography

Viewing ✓

Comprehensive catalogue photography for Mumbai-based J-SIL featuring crystal-clear product images of scientific flasks, reagent bottles, and lab apparatus — precision-lit to eliminate reflections and highlight measurement markings for print and digital catalogues.

The Challenge

J-SIL, a leading laboratory glassware manufacturer based in Mumbai, needed professional product photography for their complete catalogue of scientific glass apparatus. Glass photography is notoriously difficult — transparent surfaces create unwanted reflections, refract light unpredictably, and reveal every fingerprint and dust particle. The images needed to clearly show measurement markings, glass thickness, and stopper details while maintaining a consistent visual identity across hundreds of SKUs.

Our Soloution

We designed a custom backlighting and diffused side-lighting rig specifically engineered for transparent glass products. Every piece was cleaned using lint-free gloves and anti-static treatment before shooting. We used black card masking to control edge reflections and created consistent white backgrounds that let each flask, beaker, and bottle shape define itself clearly. Macro photography captured graduation markings and glass joint details with laboratory-grade precision.

The Results

A complete product catalogue with crystal-clear imagery that accurately represents J-SIL's manufacturing precision. The professional visuals elevated their B2B sales materials, improved product identification for distributors, and strengthened the brand's credibility across India's competitive laboratory supply market.

Key Highlights

  • Custom Backlighting Rig for Transparent Glass

  • Reflection-Controlled Studio Environment

  • Macro Photography for Graduation Markings

  • Anti-Static Cleaning Protocol

Scientific Glassware

Medilab — Scientific Glassware Photography

Precision product photography for Medilab's range of laboratory glass instruments. Studio-lit images capturing transparency, measurement accuracy, and product quality for ecommerce, catalogues, and marketing materials.

The Challenge

Medilab, a trusted scientific glassware brand from Ambala, Haryana, required photography that showcased the precision engineering and optical clarity of their laboratory instruments. The challenge was immense — photographing borosilicate glass with accurate colour representation, capturing fine graduation lines on volumetric flasks and burettes, and ensuring that transparent products appeared sharp and defined against clean backgrounds.

Our Soloution

We built a purpose-designed shooting environment with dual-diffused backlighting panels and adjustable side-fill cards to sculpt light around each glass product individually. Black velvet V-flats eliminated environmental reflections while maintaining natural edge definition. Each item was photographed at multiple angles with macro close-ups for graduation markings. Post-production involved pixel-level dust removal and background standardisation.

The Results

A comprehensive photography package that positions Medilab as a premium laboratory supplier. Clean, detailed product images streamlined their B2B sales process, reduced product enquiry confusion, and provided consistent visuals for website, social media, and printed trade show materials across India's scientific equipment market.

Key Highlights

  • Dual-Diffused Backlighting for Optical Clarity

  • Black Velvet V-Flats for Reflection Elimination

  • Multi-Angle Shooting (Front, 45°, Macro)

  • Pixel-Level Dust & Imperfection Removal

Best Practices

Proven Tips for Better

Glassware & Glass Product Photos

Backlighting Is Non-Negotiable for Glass

Glass products demand backlit setups to define shape, show transparency, and reveal liquid colours naturally. Front lighting creates harsh hotspots and obscures product form. Our studio uses custom diffusion panels positioned behind every glass product to create clean, defined silhouettes.

Control Reflections Before Post-Production

Every surface in the shooting environment reflects in glass — walls, ceiling, camera, photographer. We use black card masking, velvet V-flats, and controlled studio environments to eliminate unwanted reflections at the source. Fixing reflections in Photoshop produces inferior results.

Macro Photography for Measurement Details

Laboratory glassware buyers need to see graduation markings, glass joint specifications, and stopper details clearly. Macro photography with 100mm prime lenses and focus stacking captures these details with absolute sharpness — critical for catalogue trust.

Lint-Free Handling & Anti-Static Protocol

Glass photographs every imperfection. Even invisible dust becomes visible under studio lighting. We use cotton gloves, anti-static sprays, and compressed air cleaning protocols before every single shot. This discipline separates professional from amateur.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked

Questions

About Glassware & Glass Product Photography

Why is glassware considered the hardest product to photograph?

Glass is simultaneously transparent, reflective, and refractive — meaning it bends light, mirrors its surroundings, and shows through to backgrounds all at once. This triple challenge requires specialised backlighting rigs, reflection-control techniques using black card masking and velvet V-flats, and meticulous studio preparation including anti-static cleaning protocols. Professional glassware photography at Three Sixty Plus typically takes 3-4x longer per product compared to standard product photography — which is why expertise and patience are essential.

What types of glass products do you photograph?

We photograph a comprehensive range of glass products including laboratory glassware (Erlenmeyer flasks, volumetric flasks, beakers, burettes, separating funnels, round-bottom flasks, condensers, measuring cylinders, reagent bottles), scientific glass apparatus, chemistry lab equipment, glass bottles and containers, pharmaceutical glass packaging, premium drinkware (wine glasses, tumblers, decanters), decorative glass products, glass kitchenware, perfume bottles, and industrial glass components.

Can you create catalogue-ready images for laboratory glassware manufacturers?

Yes, we specialise in creating print-ready and digital catalogue imagery for laboratory glassware brands. Our images are delivered at 300 DPI minimum resolution for print catalogues and 2500px+ for digital platforms. We ensure consistent backgrounds, uniform lighting, accurate colour representation, and clear visibility of graduation markings, glass joint specifications, and stopper details.

How do you control reflections when photographing glass products?

Reflection control is the cornerstone of professional glass product photography. At Three Sixty Plus, we use a multi-layered approach: custom backlighting panels with diffusion material to create clean product silhouettes, black velvet V-flats to absorb environmental reflections, a fully controlled studio environment where every reflective surface is masked or covered, and cotton gloves with anti-static treatment to prevent fingerprints and dust.

Do you offer ecommerce product photography for glassware brands?

Yes. Beyond catalogue photography, we create fully compliant ecommerce product images for glassware brands selling on Amazon, Flipkart, IndiaMART, and D2C websites. This includes pure white background images (RGB 255,255,255), lifestyle compositions showing products in use, detail shots highlighting material quality, and infographic cards communicating key product features.

Can you work with glassware brands remotely from outside India?

Yes, we regularly work with glassware and scientific equipment brands based in the USA, Canada, and UK through our remote photography service. Products are shipped to our studio in Amritsar, Punjab. We conduct digital styling reviews, share progress shots for approval via video calls, and ensure complete alignment with your catalogue vision before delivering final images.

How fast can you deliver glassware product photography?

Most standard glassware shoots (up to 10 SKUs) are completed and delivered within 7–10 business days. Glass products require additional time compared to standard product photography due to specialised lighting setup, individual reflection control per product, anti-static cleaning protocols, and detailed post-production. For urgent deadlines, we offer expedited delivery options.

What makes Three Sixty Plus different for glass product photography?

Most product photography studios treat glass as just another product category. At Three Sixty Plus, we've invested in purpose-built lighting rigs, black card masking systems, and post-production workflows designed specifically for glass photography. Our founder Manjot Singh has spent years perfecting transparent and reflective product techniques — resulting in more natural, accurate, and commercially effective product imagery.
